How To Install
How To Install A Peel & Stick Wallpaper Mural
Frist step.
Check Your Mural
If you notice any defects with the material or image, please STOP and contact us straight away - DO NOT INSTALL THE MURAL. (This includes creases, defects, marks, panel edges and any image line up issues).
• Lay the panels out and leave to rest for at least 5 hours. This will help un curl the panels for easier installation.
• You will not need to trim any excess off until you have installed your mural.
• Do not pull or rub the wallpaper vigorously during installation, this will stretch out the wallpaper panel, so the next panel will not line up properly.
• We recommend that two people install this mural together to help achieve the best results.
• To Install on a Plastered Wall Preparing the wall is the most important part of the process.
Painted Wall
Ensure the wall is clean and dry with no loose plaster or contaminants. The wall MUST be smooth and free from any texture. Sand down any rough areas or fill any holes you may have.
To Install on a Painted Wall If you have an old painted wall with some loose or flaky paint we recommend that you chip away the flakes and smooth the surface with sandpaper.
Old Wall Papered Surface
To Install on a Papered Surface Remove any old paper. The wall will need to be completely smooth otherwise the new wallpaper may not stick down properly. Do NOT use lining paper underneath this mural.
Highly textured Walls
Since highly textured walls have far less surface area than flat walls, the mural will not stick as well to the wall. For stippled walls, we recommend sanding the wall down and applying a coat of primer. If you have something like cinderblock or brick, they may stick well, depending on the texture. Contact us, we'll send you a sample, and you can see for yourself how well it holds!
Step 2.
What You’ll Need Tape measure, spirit level, pencil, Stanley knife/cutting knife, straight edge (for trimming).
• The wall mural is supplied on a roll and divided into ‘panels’. The panels are numbered in the order they are to be hung, from left to right.
• Start from the left or right and work from a straight line.
Installing the first Panel.
• Taking your first panel, carefully peel a small amount of the mural at the top from the backing paper.
• Apply the top of the panel to the wall, ensuring that the right hand edge aligns with your vertical line.
• Carefully peel away the rest of the mural from the backing paper, gently applying it to the wall as you go until you reach the bottom of the panel.
• If you need to re-position any part of the panel, simply peel the appropriate amount away from the wall and re-apply, gently smoothing the mural out as you go.
3. Additional panels
• Apply the second and subsequent panels, ensuring the pattern or image matches up as you go and that the appropriate amount overlap to match the pattern or image.
• Follow the same process of smoothing the panel, ensuring this is done very gently.
• Continue to apply all middle panels before installing the last panel, which should be your far left or far right panel, depending on which side you started.
4. Trim top, bottom and sides
• When all panels have been adhered, carefully trim the top and bottom of your panels plus the far left and far right sides, using a straight edge. Don’t rush this and ensure you have sharp blade to achieve the best results.
